Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica

Playa Flamingo is one of Costa Rica’s more popular pacific coast beaches. It is a very long mostly light sand beach which is located in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. Playa Flamingo doesn’t have a very large local population and is quite touristy and has many expats which live in very modern upscale housing communities.

There are also several very nice hotels and resort style accommodations in Playa Flamingo which offer a wide variety of accommodations for different budgets. Rocket Frog Divers Flamingo, is located at Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa in Playa Flamingo.

Playa Flamingo is easiest accessed via the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia (LIR airport code). From here it is about a 1 hour transfer to Playa Flamingo. The roads are fairly well marked and quite safe for travel should you chose to rent a car.

The Weather in Playa Flamingo, Costa RIca

There are two main seasons which you will experience in Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. There is the dry season which runs from mid-November until Early May, which includes full days of sunshine. Temperatures in the mid 30’s during the day and high twenties during the nights. There is almost zero percent chance of precipitation during these months and much of the local fauna will turn very brown by the end of the dry season. Mid-May brings rains to the region which the locals call the “green” season or the wet season. During this season you can expect mostly sunny days with rain occurring almost every day in the late afternoon or early evening. The rain will generally last a few hours and then clear up. If you have an ocean view in your accommodation, you will be treated to amazing lightning storms which occur across the Gulf de Papagayo in the Santa Rosa National Park. The “green” season tends to have slightly cooler temperatures than the dry season, but with higher humidity.
